Ethnic Issues in Burma

Chin leaders were among the signatories of the 1947 Panglong Agreement, which was supposed to grant “full autonomy in internal administration for the Frontier Areas” such as Chin State. However, this agreement was not implemented and federal democracy has never been established in Burma.

The following reports were produced by the Ethnic Nationalities Affairs Center, a think-tank which supported the peace process and development of democratic institutions in Burma.
