Release of New Report: “Seventeen Months After the Military Coup in Myanmar/Burma: Escalating Persecution of Chin Christians in Chin State and Sagaing Region”
The Chin Association of Maryland, Inc. (CAM) will release a new report on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 9:00 pm ET in a video conference over Facebook entitled “Seventeen Months After the Military Coup in Myanmar/Burma: Escalating Persecution of Chin Christians in Chin State and Sagaing Region.” The report lists cases of religious persecution in Chin State and Sagaing Region, including church-burnings and the killing and detention of religious leaders.
In the town of Thantlang, Chin State, at least eleven churches and 1,300 homes have been burned down by the military since September, 2021. On June 9, the military burned down Thantlang Baptist Church, the town’s largest church. The entire population of Thantlang Town has been displaced, and some have taken refuge in Mizoram State, India.
